thanks for the comment, awgie. while it's true audrey hepburn made a handful of film appearances in the 1970s, I purposely didn't include actresses who did the bulk of their work in the 50s and 60s. I thusly used 1934 as the cut off for birth dates and so Loren and Bardot appear and Hepburn does not. Obviously, there are a number of actresses who easily could have made the list. JerryB's suggestions are excellent - 'Ormond, Cates, McCormack, Marceau, Fiorentino'. Further, if the list had included actresses from any era names like veronica lake, gene tierney, ava gardner, elizabeth taylor, rita hayworth, merle oberon, and hedy lamarr certainly would have appeared. thanks. cg.

Uh... there were only 40 - how could you know 48 out of 50?

As for the list...
She was born only 5 years earlier than Brigitte Bardot and Sophia Loren, yet Audrey Hepburn was conspicuously absent from the list. She was in her first film in 1951 - one year later than Sophia's, and one year earlier than Bardot's. But unlike Bardot, who stopped acting in 1973, Audrey continued to appear in films - albeit not many - until 1989, only four years before her death. As much as I love Brigitte Bardot, since she had not acted for 35 years before this list was posted, she is far less qualified than Audrey Hepburn, whose last film was only 19 years prior.
